Non-Surgical Anti Aging Methods

As you get older, you’ll probably start to notice the effects of aging on your skin. And while this is all a part of getting older, it’s completely natural to try and get rid of these effects. Such signs, like wrinkles, lines, and sagging, are hard to ignore because they can make you self-conscious about your appearance. Most people think they look older than they feel. For a while, the only anti aging methods were expensive and invasive.  But there are so many more methods these days that don’t require scary knives!

Non-Surgical Anti Aging Methods

In this article I will discuss the non-surgical anti aging alternatives that you might want to try if you are looking to get younger-looking skin.

Injections

So you might consider botox one of the expensive and invasive anti aging methods, but it’s actually very quick and painless. It’s probably the fastest and most effective wrinkle fixer out there. It is an injection of botulinum toxin and it relaxes the clenched facial muscle that cause things like crow’s feet and other wrinkles around the face. There are a couple major downsides to injections. First, they can be quite expensive. Second, the wrinkles will return so you have to get injections on a regular basis just to keep the results in place.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels involve an acid solution applied to the face to remove dead skin cells from the skin’s outer layer. It is a pretty quick method, lasting only fifteen minutes or so. Sometimes chemical peels cause irritation and/or stinging, but nothing too painful. Chemical peels have been successful in removing or at least reducing things like wrinkles, scars, fine lines, and spots. If you decide to do a chemical peel, make sure you follow directions. They are only to be done every few weeks or so. Otherwise you can really hurt and damage your skin.

Topical Products

This solution is probably the one most people decide to go with. It is non-invasive, cheap,  easy to do and is done at home. At the same time, topical products probably produce the most nominal results. But most often, people are looking to improve some mild imperfections. Retinoids have been popular for some time and are quite effective in reducing the signs of aging. Retinoids are derivatives of Vitamin A compounds. They increase collagen production, an essential protein that maintains structural integrity in your skin at the cellular level. Retinoids are also used to stimulate blood flow and unclog pores. You can either get prescription or over-the-counter retinoids, but the over-the-counter variations are not as strong.

Other Gentle Cosmetic Products

For those who don’t want to go to the extreme with surgery or even injections, cosmetic products are a great alternative. Cosmetic products often reduce some of the signs of aging. In order to get softer, clearer, and more radiant, you need to get rid of dead skins and promote new growth. Exfoliating peels in particular can make your skin more youthful. As you get older, your skin cells don’t turn over as fast, so you have to do some of that work yourself. An exfoliating peel will eliminate dead skin cells and make room for new skin cells to grow. Anti-Aging Skin Care is a delicate balance between prevention and treatment. As always, be sensible and thorough in your research when picking out any kind of skin treatment. There are many ways to reduce the signs of aging, so don’t necessarily resign yourself to surgical options.
